College of Arms Record Room RefurbishmentPrint Case Study

Value: £137,000
Duration: 25 weeks
Quantity Surveyor: Client Direct
Architect: Andrew Shepherd Architects

Founded in 1484, The College of Arms, also known as the College of Heralds, maintains official registers of coats of arms and pedigrees.   The College of Arms is a Grade I listed building.

The works comprised the repair of the internal shutters to the windows of the Record Room, unchanged since 1853.

The shutters are housed within the fabric of the building requiring a sympathetic approach to the refurbishment, which included repair and replacement of integral elements.

Following the repair decorations were carried out to the plastered ceiling and walls of the room.

The College remained open and operational throughout works requiring meticulous planning to ensure there was not disruption to the working day.
