The British Museum, Great Court Restaurant Refurbishment

Value: £700,000
Duration: 9 weeks
Architect: Davis Langdon
Quantity Surveyor: Baker Mallet

As a framework contractor at The British Museum, we had been working at the Museum for sixteen years, as both framework and maintenance contractor prior to this project.

Under the Agreement, we completed the refurbishment of the Great Court Restaurant, located above the Round Reading Room in the very centre of the Museum.

The project involved the strip-out of the existing restaurant, and fit-out comprising a new kitchen and bar area, refurbishment works to the existing canopy, mosaic floor and new services throughout.

Works were carried out whilst the Great Court remained open to both staff and members of the public.
