Established in 1881 the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI’s) HQ, is a Grade I listed building in Belgrave Square, London.  The SCI’s principal objective is to further the application of chemistry and related sciences for the public benefit.

The works comprised the replacement and refurbishment of the roofs carried out via a scaffold required to cover the entire building, including both the front and rear facades.   In addition the project included the alteration and refurbishment of the WC’s, showers and kitchens on all floors, from basement through to the fourth floor.  General refurbishment works to communal areas were carried out throughout the building to include meeting rooms and the main auditorium.

All of the works were carried out whilst the building remained in occupation by both staff and visitors.  In addition the site is surrounded by both commercial premises and residential dwellings requiring careful management of issues relating to noise and other potential disruption to ensure that building users were not disturbed.
