History

Coniston was founded in November 1979, as the partnership Coniston Building Services.  Company Directors David Flanders and John Rathbone first met when, although working for different building companies, both worked on the same construction project.

In 1982 Coniston Limited was formed.  Coniston employed around 10 members of staff in 1982 with an annual turnover of £500,000.

In 1982 Coniston Limited had started to take on building work for a number of shop-fitters.  One such project was at the Debenhams Department Store in Luton.  Part way through the project animal rights protestors burnt down the store and Coniston went on to take responsibility for carrying out its first £1 million strip-out and rebuilding project.

In 1986 Coniston first became involved in the housing market with their first design and build project.  During this time Coniston built a number of houses in Chelsfield, Welling and Dartford.

From 1988 - 1992 Coniston changed from being a subcontractor to a main contractor.  To accommodate their ever expanding business they also moved to new office premises in Dartford, Kent.

The late 90's and early 00's proved to be a period of rapid expansion for Coniston.  In 2001 Coniston Homes was formed, Conistons speculative housing division.  Coniston are now expanding once again with the re-introduction of Coniston Interiors, carrying out quality, high-end fit out projects.

Coniston have over 30 years experience in the construction industry and still trade from their offices in Dartford.  Coniston Limited now employ over 70 office based staff and specialist on site trades people.  Coniston Limited's trading figures at the end of 2008 showed a turnover of £16,000,000.
