Thames Rowing Club Remodelling & RefurbishmentPrint Case Study

Value: £705,000
Duration: 35 weeks
Quantity Surveyor: Davis Langdon
Architect: Panter Hudspith

Situated on the River Thames in Putney, the Thames Rowing Club is one of the oldest rowing clubs in London. The original club house was constructed in 1879. We carried out the significant remodelling and refurbishment of the clubhouse with a view to modernising and extending the facilities to enable the club to hire out the venue for events.

The project involved significant remodelling works to create a new bar featuring panoramic views of the Thames and the formation of a new external terrace. The ‘Great Hall’ is the jewel in the crown of the Club House, with a 500 capacity, boasting a ceiling height of 6 metres. The 3 metre wall of glass windows and doors offer a vista of the Thames that is second to none.

Further remodelling works were carried out in the construction of a new second floor apartment located on the roof, and refurbishment of the adjacent existing apartment. A comprehensive mechanical and electrical package was undertaken along with fire protection works to the existing boatshed. Following the remodelling the club was subject to decoration throughout.
