Thames Rowing Club, Remodelling & Refurbishment
Value: £705,000
Duration: 35 weeks
Architect: Panter Hudspith
Quantity Surveyor: Davis Langdon
Situated on the River Thames in Putney, the Thames Rowing Club is one of the oldest rowing clubs in London. The original clubhouse was constructed in 1879. We carried out the significant refurbishment work to the clubhouse with a view to modernising and extending the facilities to enable the club to hire out the venue for events.
The project required major works to create a new bar featuring panoramic views of the Thames and the formation of a new external terrace. The ‘Great Hall’ is the jewel in the crown of the clubhouse, with a 500-person capacity, boasting a ceiling height of 6 metres. The 3metre wall of glass windows and doors offers a vista of the Thames that is second to none.
Further works were carried out in the construction of a new second floor apartment located on the roof, and refurbishment of the adjacent existing apartment. A comprehensive mechanical and electrical package was undertaken along with fire protection works to the existing boatshed.
