Somerset House, Compass Kitchen Fit-out

Value: £575,000
Duration: 24 weeks
Quantity Surveyor: KMB

The Compass Kitchens at Somerset House, London underwent a complete refurbishment.

The works comprised the initial strip-out of an existing storeroom on the ground floor of the Grade I listed building.

The fit-out required the installation of a new catering kitchen to be used by the Compass Group to service bakery requirements at other London establishments.

This project required a complete M&E package, including the installation of new extracts and service supply all hidden in the ceiling voids, to meet the requirements of a Grade I listed building.

Altro Whiterock was used for the walls, with hygienic stainless-steel cladding used behind all appliances to meet the safety requirements for catering kitchens.

This project continues our legacy of work with Somerset House, where we have been working for many years. During this time projects have included numerous office refurbishments and the new Miles Staircase, winner of two structural engineering awards.
