We completed the major refurbishment project at the Europe Galleries at the Grade I listed Victoria and Albert Museum.

The exhibition contains over 1,100 pieces of 17th and 18th century art and design, across seven new gallery spaces.

The project involved major structural alterations to the existing galleries – that had been closed to the public for a number of years. Several openings were formed within the load bearing walls in previous back of house / plant room areas to create larger gallery spaces. New mezzanine floors were constructed directly above to facilitate two new plant rooms.

Due to the Grade I listing of the building many original features were required to be retained, including the original flooring. During construction, the parquet flooring was taken up and 5mm taken from the back of each tile before it could be re-laid.

This extensive refurbishment project was carried out across all seven galleries, restoring them to their original concept and design. In addition, a new bespoke feature wall was created at the entrance to the Galleries.
