Coniston Awarded Contract at Danish Church of Saint Katharine

Starting on site in early September, Coniston are proud to announce their successful appointment on £1.7m of refurbishment works at the Danish Church of Saint Katharine in Camden, London.

Serving the Danish inhabitants of London, the Grade II Listed Church acts not only as a place of worship for various sections of the Christian faith, but also as a community centre, welcoming all for festivals, celebrations and cultural events.

Coniston’s 45-week programme at the 2,000 sqm sites includes a diverse and exciting package of works, to 2 buildings and 2 gardens, set across multiple levels. Working on what is known as the ‘North Wing’ we will deliver a full refurbishment of the communal spaces and public café, including a commercial kitchen replacement and installation of disabled adaptations throughout.
At the vicarage, known as the ‘South Wing’, the basement level will be converted into an impressive learning facility, equipped with a residential apartment for overnight accommodation to be utilised by those in need.
Finally, within the main chapel building itself, the Church will be gaining a state of the art, 120m deep, 3 bore under slab, ground source heat pump heating system, improving the comfort and efficiency within the building. Groundworks and landscaping projects will also be taking place outside around the various garden spaces.

“Having extensive experience in delivering complex refurbishment projects within other Listed church buildings, including our current 5-year conservation programme being carried out at the iconic Canterbury Cathedral, we were delighted to be chosen for this tasteful and ambitious scheme at the Danish Church.

Collaborating with Architects CF Moller, we are very excited to get onto site and bring their designs to life for future generations of church users to enjoy.”
