The Royal College of Radiologists, Office Conversion

Value: £4,750,000
Duration: 64 weeks
Architect: BDP
Quantity Surveyor: Gardiner & Theobald

We completed the redevelopment of 63 Lincolns Inn Fields to create the new head office for the Royal College of Radiologists.

The existing eight storey building underwent major structural renovation work, combined with a full fit-out package to accommodate the new owners.

Works included the strip-out of the existing fittings and fixtures to all eight floors simultaneously. Whilst carrying out the strip-out, we also excavated a 168 sqm basement underneath the forecourt of the building. The basement excavation was extended a further 5m and was supported by over 30 tonnes of temporary steelwork. The completed basement provides new lecture facilities for the college.

Inside the existing building the structure was modified in line with the architect’s vision. New office space, meeting rooms and lecture facilities were created to accommodate the requirements of the College. Cleaning and refurbishing of the original stone façade was also undertaken, returning the building to its original condition.
