We completed the refurbishment and extension to the Grade II Listed Epping Forest District Museum. The Museum houses a unique collection of artefacts depicting the history of the local area.

The Museum was originally laid out across three buildings with access only via the public library. The project involved the remodelling of the buildings (two of which were listed as dating back to Tudor and Georgian periods) to create an attractive visitor experience, displaying not only the artefacts within the building, but the history of the building fabric itself.

Structural works were carried out to the fabric to create step-free access to the Museum, aligning the floors in the adjacent buildings. A new passenger lift was installed and the Tudor entrance was restored back to its original design.

A comprehensive refurbishment package was then carried out to include the provision of new services.

The new Museum includes innovative design features such as glass panelling within the Galleries to allow the public to view the restoration works taking place.
